Relapse Prevention & Aftercare
True Humaniversity Foundation has provided residential rehabilitation and recovery support since 2011. This page explains the setting, the treatment approach and what families can expect when they enquire. Families looking for a rehab centre in Mumbai can also review our main overview of the residential programme, facilities and admission process.

Relapse usually gives clues before the final act
Changes in sleep, secrecy, contact with old using friends, missed appointments, sudden confidence that support is no longer needed or a return to old routines can all matter.
The aim is to recognise change earlier rather than wait for another full crisis.

A trigger is useful only when it is specific
“Stress” is too broad to guide a plan. A useful trigger is concrete: salary day, conflict with a particular person, a route past an old drinking place, being alone after work or access to medication.
The more specific the situation, the easier it is to plan a response.

Some people need support after residential treatment
Continuing counselling, psychiatric follow-up, medication review or other structured support may be appropriate depending on the person’s needs.
The goal is not to keep somebody in treatment forever. It is to make the transition back to ordinary life less abrupt.

Know what the family will do if warning signs return
Families need a plan too. Who will raise the concern? What boundaries apply to money or access? When does the situation need professional help?
Planning these questions in advance reduces panic and argument when motivation changes.

Talk through the situation before making a decision
Tell us what has been happening and what the family is most concerned about. We can then discuss whether residential rehabilitation may be appropriate.
